Job Title: Program Coordinator- Recreation and Wellness
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Pay Group: A15 Salary Plan
Primary Purpose: Assist in the development and promotion of programs designed to encourage the health and wellness of employees and incarcerated residents.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) with major coursework in Health and Wellness, Fitness, Nutrition, or a related field preferred.
Three years full-time, wage-earning experience in fitness, health and wellness, nutrition or a related field.
Experience in project management preferred.
Each year of experience in excess of the required three years may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year for year basis.
This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.
Special Knowledge/Skills:

Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of trends and best practices in employee health and wellbeing.
Knowledge of public health issues.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assist in the development of programs that create awareness, motivation, and provide tools to employees and incarcerated residents that help them adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
2. Assist in monitoring recreation and wellness programs on Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) units.
3. Assist with the purchasing and distribution of recreation and wellness communications, supplies, equipment, and materials.
4. Provide training and technical support to incarcerated residents, Windham staff and TDCJ staff assigned to recreation and wellness.
5. Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring recreation and wellness initiatives and activities.
6. Assist in the development and review of material and curriculum to educate incarcerated residents and unit staff.
7. Develop and circulate monthly activity calendars and professional development on Recreation and Wellness topics for specific regions.
8. Gather and analyze data to measure the success of recreation and wellness initiatives and assist with identifying opportunities for improvement.
9. Compile comprehensive monthly reports on participation, initiatives, activities, and outcomes.
10. Coordinate the reporting and retention of appropriate records and files.
11. Prepare and file necessary reports connected with assigned TDCJ units.
12. Stay current and up to date on relevant health and wellness topics.
13. Perform additional duties as assigned.

14. Perform duties in a professional manner through daily, punctual attendance at location of work assignment.
15. Follow Windham School District policies and procedures in completing assigned job duties.
16. Execute duties in a professional, ethical and responsible manner as defined in 19 TAC Chapter 247, Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
